Our cake smash sessions are designed to be relaxed, baby-led and enjoyable.

A warm welcome
When you arrive at Happy Moments Co Studio, we’ll take a little time to settle in and allow your baby to get comfortable in their surroundings.

There is no pressure to jump straight into the photographs. A few minutes of exploring, cuddles and getting familiar with the studio can make all the difference.

Beautifully styled cake smash setups
We create gorgeous cake smash setups that are perfect for those all-important first birthday photographs.
From simple and timeless designs to fun and colourful themes, the backdrop and styling can help make your photographs feel extra special while keeping the focus firmly on your little one.

Plenty of time for smiles and personality
Some babies love being the centre of attention, while others are a little more reserved.

We never expect your baby to sit perfectly still and smile on cue. In fact, some of the best photographs happen when they aren’t!

The little expressions, cheeky smiles, serious concentration and moments of curiosity are all part of the story.

Then comes the cake!
This is where the fun really begins.
Your little one gets to explore their birthday cake, and we capture all the reactions. They might poke it, taste it, squish it, grab a handful or simply look at it wondering what on earth they’ve been given!

There is no right or wrong way to cake smash.

Ingredients

▢1 ½ cups (133 grams) fine blanched almond flour, not packed

▢½ cup (140 grams) ripe mashed banana*

▢2 large eggs

▢½ teaspoon vanilla

▢½ teaspoon cinnamon

▢1 teaspoon baking powder

▢⅛ teaspoon salt

Frosting

▢coconut whipped topping, homemade or store-bought OR plain full-fat yogurt OR frosting of choice

Toppings

▢fresh berries or sprinkles

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and spray 3 (4-inch) mini springform pans with cooking spray. Set aside.

Whisk eggs in a medium mixing bowl. Add mashed banana and vanilla. Stir until combined.

Add almond flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Stir until just combined.

Divide batter evenly between the 3 springform pans and bake for 20 minutes or until the tops of the cakes are golden in color and an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Remove cakes from the oven, let cool for 10-20 minutes before carefully removing from the pans.

Let layers cool completely before stacking and icing with frosting of choice. I’ve tested plain full-fat yogurt as well as coconut whipped topping. For toppings, I like the idea of naturally-colored sprinkles or fresh berries.
