What is a smoke bomb? It’s technically pyrotechnic and relates to the firework display family. But wedding photographers and couples are using them during their wedding party photoshoots and couple portraits to get creative, add depth and they’re pretty damn cool but they come with some warnings, so I’ve put a blog together and how best to use them too.
Best advised to double-check with the venue if smoke bombs are allowed to be used on the grounds, and it is not recommended to use these products inside so wide and open spaces would should best.
Also as these are classed as pyrotechnic you won’t be able to fly with them or take them into a public space.
Although the product is cool burning and non-toxic, please avoid using these products if you have bad asthma. It is best advised to avoid putting the smoke bombs near any flammable materials or items, as the smoke bombs do let off small sparks, so best to have a small water bucket nearby or make sure they’re fully out before leaving the area but taking them with you to avoid starting forest fires.
DO THE SMOKE BOMBS STAIN?
There is a possibility for the colours to dye if not handled properly such as lent against a wall, dress or shoes once the pin is pulled out. I have not had any problems during weddings with the smoke cloud staining clothes and these products only last 20 secs, therefore hold them high, away from the face and keep clear from the base. It is your responsibility to use these products safely.
