How To Find A Wedding Photographer

There are several things to consider when looking for a wedding photographer, it can be such an exciting journey discovering all the different companies. To help with your wedding planning, I have broken it down for you on how to find a wedding photographer, so at the end of this article you will get an understanding of what you want from a wedding photographer, and the things you should be looking out for and questioning.

Things to consider when looking for a Wedding Photographer

Photographer styles

It’s important to choose a photographer whose style matches your vision for your wedding photos. Look at their portfolio and consider whether their aesthetic aligns with what you have in mind. Start by doing some research to identify a few photographers whose style and approach you like. Look at their full wedding galleries, and check out their social media pages to see their recent work to find a wedding photographer. Documentary-style wedding photography is my approach and I also love the editorial look.

Wedding photography experience

Consider the photographer’s level of experience, both in terms of the number of weddings they have shot and the length of time they have been working as a professional photographer. Happy Moments Co. was established in 2018, however, I have had a photography career for the past 10 years.

Personality

Your wedding photographer will be with you for most of your big day, so it’s important to choose someone who you get along with and who makes you feel comfortable. It just takes one zoom call with me and I’ll have you in giggles of laughter.

Wedding photography cost

Determine your budget for a wedding photographer and make sure the photographers you are considering are within your price range. Keep in mind that the cost of wedding photography can vary depending on factors such as the photographer’s experience, the location of the wedding, and the number of hours they will be shooting. Remember wedding photography on a budget is different for everyone. How you find your wedding photographer depends on your requirements. Whether you’re planning a 2-hour micro wedding or the wedding of the year with 150+ guests. I have designed photography packages to meet your needs based on experiences.

Reviews

Ask the photographer for reviews from past clients and take the time to read them to get other couples’ feedback on the photographer’s work and professionalism. I have plenty of reviews to be read via Google Business or hitched. I am truly blessed to meet only the best people in this industry and I can’t wait to meet more lovely couples.

Wedding photography contract

Be sure to sign a contract with the photographer that outlines the details of your agreement, including the cost, the number of hours they will be shooting, and any additional services they will provide. This will help to protect both you and the photographer and ensure that both parties are clear on the expectations for the wedding day. I have this feature and all your information, wedding planning forms, contracts, insurance and invoices are provided via a private client portal accessible to you both anytime throughout your wedding planning.

We offer free wedding consultations

Set up consultations with the photographers you are interested in. This is a great opportunity to get to know them, discuss your vision for your wedding photos, and ask any questions you may have. I also love having these calls with potential couples, to see if they’re the right fit for me too, because at Happy Moments Co. I only work with 40 couples a year.

Recent weddings

Ask to see full galleries of recent weddings that the photographer has shot, rather than just a selection of their best photos. This will give you a better sense of their style and ability to capture a full wedding day. I include these full wedding galleries in the first initial email, so get in touch today.

Two wedding photographers

Consider hiring a second photographer to capture additional angles and moments during the wedding. This can be a great way to ensure that you have a comprehensive set of photos that capture all the special moments of your big day, as one photographer cannot be in two places at once for example bride and groom prep. At Happy Moments Co. I offer photography packages with and without a second shooter to meet your needs.

When should you book your wedding photographer?

Once you have found a photographer whose work you love and who you feel comfortable with, be sure to book them early to reserve their services for your wedding date. Most wedding photographers book two years in advance nowadays. I have limited availability at Happy Moments Co. in the coming years.
